The 1 Micron sediment filter helps to remove large particles and debris such as dirt, sand, and rust from water. (Changed every 6-12 months.)
Running a multi-stage filtration system without a sediment filter or with filters that aren’t changed regularly can lead to cloudy, discolored water and staining, as well as increased strain on downstream components like carbon blocks and membranes. Fine particles can clog filters, reduce flow and raise pressure drop, accelerating the fouling of subsequent stages and increasing replacement costs. Sediment can also cause wear and inefficiency in appliances such as water heaters and pumps, potentially shortening their lifespan. Neglected filters can become a habitat for biofilm, affecting taste and hygiene, and blockages or pressure changes can create maintenance surprises. To mitigate these risks, follow the manufacturer’s replacement schedule (often 6–12 months), monitor filter condition, and inspect pre-filters for clogging or color changes.
